Microsoft unveiled today its Direct Push software for the Palm Treo 700w, which runs Windows Mobile 5.

This lets owners of the Windows Treo get push email, in which the email server sends your email directly to your mobile device when it is received, instead of waiting for you to initiate an update. The update also includes push updates of calendar items, tasks and contact listings, and is expected to be available later this month from Palm and Verizon, which offers the 700w.
