Google Talk Tasting Blackberry

Blackberry users get to use Google Talk and Google Local services on their mobile messaging devices as Google makes its maps and chat available for the popular platform.
The ongoing practice of Blackberry users frantically checking and replying to messages on their devices may pause every so often, but only long enough to grab the latest goodies from Google. A Reuters report cited both Google and Blackberry producer Research In Motion on the announcement.
Google Local for those mobile devices can be downloaded today, while the Google Talk service will be available later in the spring 2006. All color Blackberry devices support Google Local, so those users should be able to implement the maps and directions service without too much difficulty.
Meanwhile, Google Talk may get a boost from Blackberry users who have Gmail accounts, which are required to use Talk. Corporate IT types will probably object in some industries over the use of Talk, especially if corporate communications fall under the purview of Sarbanes-Oxley retention requirements.
Both applications are free from Google, but the usual caveats about "additional charges may apply depending on carrier and service" should be observed by users, ie don't blame Google if your wireless carrier bills you for downloading.
