Gmail Hits The Small Screen

Mobile phone users can now access Gmail on their preferred handset's browser, and Google has included a few features to enhance the mobile version too.
Only a few hours ago we were taking note of Gmail's new auto-responder and contact group features. Now Google has added a mobile version of Gmail that optimizes itself for the small screen experience.
Mobile users can navigate to m.gmail.com from their handset's browser. Gmail automatically optimizes itself for the phone being used. Since Gmail is a server-based service, the account stays in sync whether it is accessed from a phone or a PC.
Google posted that the mobile version of Gmail can open attachments like photos or PDF files. Also, users can reply to messages from people in their Gmail Contacts by call if their phone numbers are part of the contact information.
Efforts like these by Google in the mobile space may have led to the rumor that the search advertising company may acquire Oslo-based Opera, whose browser has become popular with handset makers like Nokia. Opera has since stated it isn't a takeover target, by Google or anyone else.
