Cellphone Users Dial In To Gaming

At the Electronic Entertainment Expo, some little games start to have a big impact on the market.
The world's largest videogame publisher, Electronic Arts, has eight titles on display at E3 this week. They and smaller rivals have partnered with companies like Verizon and Cingular to make those games available as a purchased download via a mobile phone.
Yahoo and Sprint went a step further than the typical casual diversion offered by many cellphone games; they will offer multiplayer games from Yahoo to Sprint users. The first game being offered will be Yahoo Poker.
That partnership brings together Yahoo's brand name recognition and instant messaging features to Sprint's newest phones. Yahoo's Poker game will let up to ten players participate.
One interesting company in the cellphone gaming space will be Jamdat. That company purchased Blue Lava Wireless, which owns the license to distribute the incredibly popular Tetris game to wireless phones. Tetris remains an appealing game familiar to many cellphone customers.
