Two New Google Ad Formats Available for Mobile

Google recently announced the extension of two desktop ad formats to the mobile platform; Product Extension Ads and Product Local Ads.

Google hopes these ads will help advertisers meet the requirements of mobile shoppers who are increasingly turning to mobile searches for all shopping related activities, from product info to comparing prices and locating the store as well.

What’s The Most Important Mobile Marketing Tactic?

Perhaps this doesn’t sound like a headline that belongs in Search Engine Guide, but trust me, it is. I was at the Brandhackers Meetup Monday night in New York City on a panel focusing on what marketers need to know about mobile marketing. But what struck me is how much the audience needed to hear the most important idea about mobile marketing, which is that you don’t do it in isolation. Your mobile marketing must be integrated with everything else you do for maximum effect, and I shared my opinion on what for most companies is the most effective mobile marketing tactic–search.

Frequent Mobile Internet Users Love Their Mobile Operator

Research from mobile survey company On Device Research has revealed that the more people use the mobile internet, the more they love their mobile operator. The mobile research, which was conducted directly on the mobile internet, shows that frequent mobile internet users are more satisfied with their mobile operator, compared to those who only occasionally use the internet on their mobile phone.

The mobile research, contained in a free quarterly report (http://www.slideshare.net/OnDevice/odr-mobileinternetsatisfaction2011q1-7614676), revealed the strength of relationship that a consumer has with his or her mobile operator is directly related to the perceived quality of their mobile phone and the services they use on it. For example, mobile internet browsers in the UK who use social networks, such as Facebook, showed the greatest increase in operator satisfaction with a 10% rise compared to those who do not use the service.

Bing Supes Up Mobile Search App

After all, it’s anticipated that more than half of the U.S. market will switch smartphones by the end of 2012. Apple iPad 2 vs. Motorola Xoom

With the release of the iPad 2 today, the Silicon Alley Insider chart of the day was very timely comparing the Motorola Xoom vs. iPad 2. In many areas both tablets are very comparable, however the iPad 2 is lighter, thinner and currently less expensive.
